Basic Television Reception to fully Interactive Networked Services

Airwave understands the needs of hospitals and patients and has developed a multi-tier approach ranging from basic television reception to fully interactive networked services with touchscreen control.

We know that some hospitals do not want to charge their patients for watching television whilst others would like to make a return to cover the cost of providing the service. Each hospital has a different set of needs and Airwave matches that need to the product and service provided.

Airwave has supplied and installed equipment at Trusts such as Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London, Nottingham Healthcare NHS Trust and Penine Healthcare Trust, as well as Private Healthcare organisations like Nuffield, BMI, Spire and Ramsay.

Professional Hospital Television Installations

Hospital TV Installation

Airwave works closely with the facilities management team to ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements as well as meeting the operational needs of each ward. Specially designed ceiling brackets have been developed enabling patients to view the screens whilst ensuring the equipment does not compromise easy bedside access.

Airwave has partnered with the world leader in electronics and healthcare, Philips, and provides the Philips Professional range of televisions which have been designed with hospital installations in mind.

These TVs have unique features which include;

Smoovie Healthcare Remote

Smoovie Hospital Remote

Initially developed for the hotel sector, the Smoovie remote has quickly become established as a favourite product amongst some hospitals as the method of controlling access to television channels and for infection control. Each Smoovie controls the TV and can be sold or given to the patient at the beginning of their stay. They can then take it home as it will work a normal Philips TV when they return home. Clearly, this is a great benefit in terms of infection control as well as a way for the hospital to generate revenues from hospital television.

The Smoovie comes in 24 hour, 4 day and 7 day versions and can either be sold at the hospital shop or via vending machines.

There is a ring at the base enabling it to be connected to a elasticated key ring (Ski-pass type), to ensure it is within easy reach of the patient and does not get lost under bedclothes.

Smoovie can be used with just the normal channels OR with pay movie content.
