Corporate Social Responsibility
Airwave's business practices reflect our commitment to making a positive impact in our local communities; this commitment is central to our company ethos and and thinking.
Airwave's "Day 19" initiative is at the forefront of our CSR policy.
Day 19 - Charitable Activities
The business offers each employee an extra day's holiday on the condition that it is used for charitable purposes; this must replicate, as closely as possible, the company's contractual working day of 9AM to 5.30PM and must be spent with a registered charity.
Whilst we allow each employee to choose a cause, we encourage the support of our partner charity Chestnut Tree House Children's Hospice in Arundel, West Sussex or the Guild Care in Worthing, West Sussex.
Day 19 (as in 2019) allows each member of staff to undertake a variety of tasks such as the building of structures, gardening, cleaning, painting, catering or the visiting of the elderly, at risk of becoming isolated after a hospital stay.
Charity fundraising
Each year, Airwave raises funds for our partner charity and various other causes, the culmination of this being an annual endurance challenge. For further details, see our charity page.
Carbon Offsetting Initiative
Airwave is proud to partner with UK based conservation company Gift-A-Tree, and plants a tree for every TV sold to a new customer. This initiative enables us to plant thousands of trees, across 34 counties each year. For further details, see our carbon offsetting policy page.
Environmental Policy
The business as much as realistically possible supports the responsible and sustainable use of resources and recycles all waste material. This covers the following:
- The recycling of all relevant waste product.
- The transportation of all television and display waste to a recycling centre.
- The salvage of spare parts and faulty TV and display equipment, the latter to be repaired and reused whenever possible.
- The use of energy efficient and movement activated lighting.
Employee Relations
Airwave endeavour to provide optimum working conditions for its employees, ensuring consistent and socially responsible employment contracts, equal opportunities, regular staff training, development potential and monthly massage and wellbeing sessions.
