Z Hotels cater for both leisure and business travellers via locations in iconic city hubs, providing easy access to cultural and commercial attractions

The Hotel

Thick in the midst of Holborn's trendy bars, eclectic restaurants, and boutique shops, Z Hotel Holborn enjoys a bustling central London location.

The Holborn property is housed in a striking neoclassical building, just a short walk from Holborn Tube station. And with 197 rooms set across six floors, is the Z brand's largest hotel.

Each soundproofed guest room offers blackout blinds, power showers, air conditioning, free wifi, and a premium TV entertainment system.

The Technology

Z Hotel Holborn approached TV technology partner, Airwave, looking to modernise its current TV entertainment system.

With the incumbent Samsung hospitality TVs having plenty of fuel in the tank, the remit was to upgrade the system whilst retaining the TV hardware and existing Sky TV provision.

Airwave decommissioned the existing TV interface and implemented a Uniguest Hub guest room entertainment platform. A series of branded information pages were created, built by Airwave's technical design team, using assets provided by Z Hotel's marketing function.

Airwave implemented a bespoke TV channel line-up, furnished with a multiday electronic programme guide and access to Sky's shiny library of premium content.

Sustainability at the Core

The decision to upgrade the existing TV system instead of replacing it outright is a testament to Z Hotels’ commitment to sustainability. By avoiding the unnecessary disposal of functional TV displays, the hotel has reduced electronic waste, a growing environmental concern in the hospitality industry.

In conjunction with this, Uniguest's Hub platform requires minimal additional hardware, further reducing the installation's environmental footprint.
