The Brand
Harbour Hotels is a growing portfolio of 15 luxury hotels situated in picturesque coastal or city locations in the south of England (apart from the Lake District based Rothay Garden).
The seaside-themed brand pride themselves on luxurious bedrooms, brilliant in-house restaurants, buzzy bars, and top-notch spas.
The Hotel
Featuring 183 rooms, Harbour Hotel Guildford is the Harbour group’s largest property.
The hotel is well-situated in Guildford, gateway to the Surrey Hills and neighbour of London, the M25, and Heathrow and Gatwick airports. As a consequence, the property is a popular choice for both business and leisure visitors, all who benefit from the numerous amenities, headlined by the well-appointed spa.
The HarSpa & Club sits across two floors and offers a luxury spa and fitness hub, including three pools, a two-level gym space and fitness studio, a stone oven sauna, an aromatic crystal steam room and mud rasul.
A post-workout pint is available in the sweeping 120ft marble-topped bar Long Bar, offering Guildford’s premier destination drinking experience.
The Technology
Harbour Hotel Guildford offers multiple amenities and sits in the middle of a vibrant town; naturally this necessitates the dissemination of much information to the guest.
Airwave helped Harbour wave goodbye to the paper-based in-room directory, implementing an Uniguest TV (Cloud) guest room entertainment system, to sit on flat-to-wall mounted 43 and 50-inch LG UR762H Series hospitality displays.
Harbour Guildford’s marketing function worked with Airwave’s technical design team to design and populate a guest interface. This included:
- A series of information pages, incorporating bar & restaurant menus (including QR codes leading to Harbour’s online facility booking system), local attraction information, and generic hotel information.
- Hospitality certified Google Chromecast, allowing guests to cast content from a smart device to the in-room TV
- The cloud-based VOD streaming app, Airtime
Airwave implemented a multiday EPG service, and an IPTV headend, enabling the delivery of a Freeview line-up of channels via the newly refurbished hotel’s ethernet network.
