The Brand
Founded by Sir Rocco Forte and Lady Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels is a British hotel group known for luxury and exceptional service.
The group owns and operates 14 prestigious hotels across Europe, with notable properties including the iconic Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and the Hotel de Russie in Rome.
Each Rocco Forte hotel is unique, with design and ambience tailored to its specific location.
The Hotel
Hotel Amigo sits quietly confident in the historic centre of Brussels, a stone’s throw from Grand-Place and within easy reach of the city’s key cultural and political landmarks. A distinguished member of the Rocco Forte portfolio, it balances five-star luxury with understated elegance.
The property features 173 rooms, including 20 suites, all designed with classic sophistication and contemporary comfort. Interiors draw on local character, with thoughtful details that reflect both Belgian heritage and Italian design.
Amenities include a well-appointed fitness centre, 6 flexible meeting and event spaces, and Fulvio Pierangelini's acclaimed Bocconi restaurant; the hotel bar serves a carefully curated list of cocktails and fine wines.
With world-class service and a focus on quality at every touchpoint, Hotel Amigo is a beacon of luxury in the centre of a modern European capital.
The Technology
To further enhance its famous guest experience, Hotel Amigo partnered with Airwave to introduce cutting-edge TV entertainment technology to the guest rooms. Building on their successful collaboration at Rocco Forte's Brown's Hotel, Airwave implemented Uniguest's Hotel HUB guest room entertainment system, transforming the in-room TV into a smart, personalised digital concierge.
HUB's customisable interface combines information, entertainment, casting, and seamless access to hotel services—all from a single, easy-to-navigate interface.
Airwave integrated the HUB with Hotel Amigo’s property management system (PMS), enabling real-time personalisation. Upon check-in, guest details are passed directly to the in-room TV, which displays a tailored welcome message the moment the room is accessed. It’s a smooth, behind-the-scenes operation that adds a thoughtful layer of personalisation.
More than just a welcome screen, the HUB interface offers a wealth of practical features. Real-time weather updates for the current and following day help guests plan their activities, while a prominent Watch TV button offers immediate access to live channels. Built-in Chromecast functionality allows guests to cast their own content, making it simple to pick up where they left off at home.
An in-room dining menu was included in the interface, a convenient way for guests to order food and drink and a subtle upsell tool for the hotel. Recognising the diverse preferences of their guests, Hotel Amigo also offers access to PressReader via the HUB interface. PressReader's digital newsstand provides thousands of global newspapers and magazines, catering to those who appreciate staying informed without the environmental impact of traditional print media.
Indeed, one of the standout aspects of this installation is sustainability. Rather than replacing all the existing TVs, Airwave deployed Uniguest HUB on the hotel’s current hardware — extending its life and significantly reducing electronic waste. A future-forward solution, without the footprint.
To round things off, Airwave implemented a multiday Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), giving fans of terrestrial TV the freedom to browse upcoming shows at their own pace.
Hotel Amigo's new tech is designed to be intuitive and discreet, seamlessly integrating into the guest experience. It enhances convenience, provides personalised information, and offers a range of entertainment options, ultimately contributing to a smarter and more enjoyable stay.
